Jack of Hearts 2 Update

People have been asking me when the  sequel to Jack of Hearts is due out. The answer is very soon! The good news is that my editor (Pat Van Wie) sent me the final page proofs just the other day. Last chance for me to see it before it’s officially published.

I also got a glimpse of the cover and title, which I’ll be happy to show off in a few days.

And just for fun here is the music I listened to while writing Jack of Hearts 2. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I like to build playlists for writing projects. Sort of inspirational themes. It’s a fun mini-project for me. Eventually it’s just white noise so I can disappear into the world of the book.

Last time I had a lot of Smashing Pumpkins going on. This time it’s a little more all over the place. I’ve got some Battlestar Galactica, Lost, and the amazing sound track to the Fountain, by Clint Mansell. And yes, that’s a Modanna song. Not sure how that happened, but there it is.

YA author Marilee Brothers has a blog where she interviews authors and discusses books. She was kind enough to invite me over to answer a few questions a few days ago. I talk a little about Roger Zelazny, Gene Wolfe, and C.S. Lewis and other fun stuff. You can check out the discussion here:

Marilee is the author of the YA series, Unbidden Magic, about a teenage girl with weird psychic powers, guardian angels and witches for neighbors. You can learn more about her books at her website here:

Holy crap, Dishonored won a BAFTA for best game in 2012. I think I can safely say that no one on the team was expecting this. Which is why our office went bananas when we heard the presenter Danny Wallace say “Dishonored” into the microphone (we were watching the live stream). I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of the team at Arkane and to have the opportunity to make the kind of games that Arkane makes.

You can watch the acceptance speech by my excellent teammates here: BAFTA 2012 Best Game

In a few weeks I’ll be attending PAX East, which is a first for me so I’m looking forward to that. While I’m there I’ll be on a panel for ‘Narrative Design’ moderated by the amazing Austin Grossman. Should be fun.

Line editing on Jack of Hearts continues in the wee hours of the morning.
